Erimitis Bay Beach, Paxi, Greece
Originally built somewhere around 1820 it had belonged to a fisherman and had on of the first water cisterns in the area, carved deep into the rocks.
A beautifully rebuilt traditional Paxos stone house, designed to let you slip into a slower pace of life. An ancient donkey path leads down through forest and groves, to Erimitis beach. Surely one of Greece's most beautiful.
The house is positioned in the village of Boikatika, looking out across uninterrupted olive groves and pine forest to the spectacular cliffs and the sea below.
The owners have completely rebuilt this old fisherman house, keeping all the charm, but adding all modern technology - carefully hidden away, so you can really feel like you are going back in time. Originally built somewhere around 1820 it still has one of the first water cisterns built in the area, carved deep into the rocks.
The garden is full of local plants and Mediterranean aromatic herbs - filling the air with the scent of rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender, mint and monks pepper.
The amphitheater shaped front garden has been planted with lemon, lime, orange, almond, pomegranate and fig trees.
There is a wonderful restaurant and bar a few minutes away and the charming village of Magaia with its cafe, bakery supermarket and taverna is at the end of the road. Loggos, Lakka and Giaos are all a ten minute drive away, as are most of the islands other beaches.
